A SIDE OF WHITE PRIVILEGE, PLEASE
White Privilege. Still waiting for mine.
In 1980 I was a struggling dancer. I lived in East Harlem; got chased by the gangs after my night shift as a waiter in midtown Manhattan; and in 1981 fell three months behind in the rent. Had no food in the apartment.
I did not receive any White Privilege then.
So, if this phenomenon exists, could I get some, ahem, in the form of a White Privilege reparation? Had it been around in 1980, I would not have owed my landlord $780 plus utilities, and had to sneak aboard NJ Transit to get to my friend's house in New Brunswick so I could have something to eat.
Since the late 60s, Title IX, Affirmative Action, and Quota Hiring have become the norm. These are efforts by Liberals to level the playing field, balance the roulette wheel, and unstack the deck.
The result? More inequality and misery heaped upon the American landscape than anything Jim Crow could have imagined. We have tech companies with more Indian and Asian engineers than the entire populations of India or Asia. More women than men attend college. Teachers Unions have crippled our public schools, but not to the point that some unfortunate African-Americans have been granted access to prestigious universities ahead of more qualified students . . . but only to the detriment of the African-Americans, who flat out cannot compete with their peers.
Add to that the disappearance of the elite Men's athletic programs since Title IX insists the women have a team on campus as well, whether the women want one or not, and you have the crippling effect that has taken competition and genuine accomplishment out of the mix in not only sports, but also most professions.
And now? 'White Privilege!' scream the perennially offended. Whitey has unfair advantages and the black person cannot compete in the arena. Well, then what the HELL has Affirmative Action and Quota Hiring been doing these past 50 years?
Nothing. You now it. I know it.
And yet, now we have White Privilege.
Let's see where we are in 2070 . . . if America is still here.
