ONE DAY THE CIRCUS CAME TO TOWN . . .
. . . and all the freaks got out and polluted the gene pool.
My first, and still unpublished novel, is entitled, Kooktown USA. It’s the story of how San Francisco became a mecca for every Progressive dunce on the planet.
The pitch;
In 1850, at the height of the Gold Rush, the city of San Francisco’s population exploded by a factor of ten. The same year, the circus arrived via ship and set up shop at the end of Pacific Avenue. One night the freaks and clowns got out.
- The two-faced man slept with the undertaker and spawned the Pelosi clan.
- The Flying Sanfillipos break into the Mission Dolores and now we have the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.
- The clowns headed for the Nob Hill brothels and generations of members of the Board of Supervisors were born.
And so on.
From where did that ship sail in 1849?
New York City, of course!
Given the performance of Stoner Bill de Blasio and Andrew “The Leg Breaker” Cuomo, the circus may have left some DNA behind in Gotham before departing for the West Coast. How else do you explain the parallel destruction of both states along the same lines of Liberal buffoonery?
How indeed?
Tomorrow we are off to the Ringling Circus Museum and a tour of the John and Mabel Ringling estate.
Writing a book about the circus required a lot of research. I look forward to seeing some of the displays, artifacts, and installations that I read about while crafting Kooktown, USA.
Should be fun.
Or creepy, depending on how you feel about clowns . . . not the political ones.
